First of all many congratulations to Amalia, May, Frank, Polash, Lucia, Anna, Nerea, Sam, Shaima, Grace and Charlotte who were my successful students for Period 37 and who have been awarded the BSc.
Together we achieved a remarkable pass rate of 100% !!!!
Thank you for being diligent students and putting in the hard work to pass and for never stopping believing in yourselves.
For those who have failed the reason for many students is because of one of two things: either they have had poor mentoring and therefore their work is weak and badly structured and/or they lack the required skills needed for good research, analysis and evaluation. The most common Assessment Criteria failed are ‘Analysis, Evaluation and Conclusions’ and ‘Information Gathering and Referencing’. The latter, ‘Referencing’, is something that often they have not encountered before and I can explain the requirements in simple terms. ‘Analysis, Evaluation and Conclusions’ fails because of the wrong approach and understanding of what the markers are looking for and for example with Topic 8 (a business and financial evaluation of a company) students think all they need to do is conduct ratio analysis and produce graphs, or they describe trends rather than go into the required depth to understand what has caused those trends.
